PHP & PDF - please

Hello,

I just wanted to clarify,

Is it possible to use php to write to, and create a pdf file, or do you need a special converter that you speak to through php to create the pdf?

Is it possible to search or interact with a pdf file through using php?

Are both of the above questions the same for using word documents?

I guess I'm looking for the limitations of php when working with pdf's, and php.

If anyone has any info, or links to articles, tutorials, or tools need to do any of this, please do let me know.

www.php.net/pdf will give you a rundown on what PHP can do with PDFLib, which you'll have to download and install

php does have a pdf library, but if you are on a shared server you'll want to try one that is written in php (instead of a compiled in module). ive seen several around, check with google.

you could use php's COM support to create/access a Word document. or, if you can get away with using a .rtf file (.rtf is an open format) i have seen some php code that will let you generate that type of file.

PDFLib is a waste of time.
