using a text file with mail()

I have a problem about getting a text file in the body of a message, I have seen an older post that said to do it like this:

$var=file("textfile");

When I try this I just get an email with the single word 'Array' back. The file that I am trying to get as the body as the message is 43 lines long.

If any one could help me I would be very greatful.

In the text file I have some vars like $userid, How could I get PHP to process these, the method above does work but dont process them.

All I want to do is process them, if there isnt a way, I thought of a work around just putting the uid in the Subject.

hi again,

a very simple way to achieve what you want is
to place a keyword for the name which you
want to replace:

in the file:
"Hello KEYWORD_NAME!
This is..."

then in your code:
$file_text = implode('',file("textfile"));
$file_text = str_replace("KEYWORD_NAME",$username,$file_text);
