closing the browser from php

i have a 'cancel' button in an html-form.
when this button is pressed i want to invoke/call a server-side php-script before i close the window???

You can't from PHP - you have to use JavaScript. So make your button call the PHP script, then the PHP script can output a HTML page that contains:

of just use a piece of javascript inthe cancel button itself, read some javascript manuals.

Note: you can only close windows, NOT the browser. If you try to close the browser, the user will always get a requester asking if he really wants to let you close the browser.
