is there such function?
i do use manually neotrace to get STATE (in US or country) by IP addr following entries in my web sites.
i need to get automatically from my script by each IP :
- region
- ISP
- time of access to my server
- any open info like in whois
etc.
is there such functions in php (perl, vbscript...) like gethostbyaddr?

No.

The only location information in the hostname is the extension which should indicate the country of origin, but with the .net/com/org/tv etc domains, you're lost.

There is no reliable way to find the country of origin, and you can safely forget that you can find out anything more than the that.
