Upload a image to a directory with----

Hello all, i am just learning php and I was wondering if i could get some help with this problem. I have been searching the boards for an answer on how to upload a image with a size limit, and rename it, to a directory. I am having a lot of problems with this if somebody could please put an example with there post it would be great..
The picture size will be under 30 to 40 k
