The mail()-function

Hi,

when I send e-mail using the mail()-function I sometimes get some of the e-mails back including the following text:

451 See http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html

Does anyone know what the problem is?

My code looks like this:
mail("[e-mail]", "Subject", "This is the message", "To: [e-mail]\r\nFrom: Me<[e-mail]>\r\nReply-To: [e-mail]\r\nReturn-Path: [e-mail]");

I believe an error 451 is when the domain name is not resolvable.
not sure though =)

Hmm,

the included link in the "error-message" says something about Bare LF's???

Any idea how to fix that?

It is an ASCII linefeed (LF) character not preceded by an ASCII carriage-return (CR) character.
Every line in an Internet mail message is required to end with CR LF. The entire message ends with CR LF dot CR LF. 822bis specifically prohibits other uses of LF.

Sounds like you are running qmail, if this is correct you might wanna upgrade it or try sendmail.

Is there any way to get around the problem? I mean, can I include the required ASCII characters in my e-mail?

I would just try to upgrade your MTA and see if that helps

MTA = mail transfer agent, sendmail, qmail etc...
