changing the owner of a script

I'm writing a php script which calls another one(as root). It is accessible in the through logging into a webinterface. Now I'd like that this script changes its uid and gid to the person which called it. Is that possible?

I thought it would be some additional security.

I know this but it\'s not exactly what I want(or I miss the point). If I would chown the file which I call it might become messy when multiple users are running the script at the same time.

What I\'d like to do:
1) User calls the script
2) Script changes the uid under which it runs from root to the user.

Is that possible? Maybe I missed the function in the php help pages.

But I still do not completely understand why you wan't to do this 🙂)
Could you explain it.

Another point: you shouldn't run your webdeamon as root, which has to, when you want to access root's files - or am I wrong?
