Updating sections of many simultaneously

Hello,

Please excuse my ignorance, as I am unfamilliar with everything except HTML. I am looking for a way to update the navigational menu (links) that are on every single page of my site.

I thought a perl script or something would be simple, but I'm either not getting that impression from coders I know, or what they are saying is going WAY over my head. I also have considered iframes, but I just learned about them, and am not sure if that will work.

If any of you have any advice, from any type of coding, it'd be appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a very simple way, and could whip it up, I'd owe you much gratitude, and would certainly give due credit.

you may use a text editor which supports find/replace in more than one file

Could you tell me what prgrams do this?

i use Text Pad (www.textpad.com)
Edit + and UltraEdit are good choices too
