Subtracting HH:MM from another HH:MM

Is it possible to use a timestamp, or just the hour and minute (HH:MM) in a field to subtract it from another and get the difference in the amount of hours and minutes there are?

I am wanting to write a program where i "clock in" and "clock out" for certain tasks so I can keep an acurate time sheet of how much I work.

And if the subtraction operator doesnt already do this can it be overloaded to do it? Does PHP support overloading of an operator?

A timestamp is just the current time in seconds since 1970, so you can just subtract the two.

You should never ever store the time in a human-readable form, it makes no sense anyway.

Without timestamps you'll have to process the HH:MM string manually, split up the string intop hours and minutes, multiply the hours by 60 to get minutes, adsd the real minutes, subtract that from the other value and devide by 60 to get the hours and minutes again.

Better switch to timstamps and save yourself a lot of time.
