urgh! MkDir permissions.......

When people submita form that is validated by PHP, I want it to create a directory called the new user's $Username.
like this...

mkdir($Username, 0777)

this works offline for me using Xitami, but NOT online. How come?

Can anyone help me out?

apache or nobody (whatever apache runs as, assuming you are using Apache) would have to have write permissions on the directory you are trying to create subdirectories in.

I can't change the permissions of the directory I want to create subdirectories in because it is the actual main one...

you could write a sctipt to FTP into it, that is if your FTP user has perms on that dir.
