PHP and Tables? :)

I'm a newbie and so far I can display records from my mysql database straight down
like

record1
record2
record3
etc...

what should I do if I want them spread out across the screen?

such as

record1 record2 record3
record4 record5 record6

what would be the proper way to code the rusults? thanks everyone! 🙂
