Blocking an IP from your site

I am trying to block certain IP address from viewing my site, and redirect them to another page.

I was trying:

$REMOTE_ADDR = $IP;
if ($IP = "192.168.0.1") {
print ("<META HTTP-EQUIV=\"REFRESH\" CONTENT = \"0; URL=http://www.yahoo.com\">");
}
Rest of site code here.

This was redirecting anyone to the redirect page. Anyone know a good way to fix this problem??

Yeah...

if ($IP = "192.168.0.1")

needs to be

if ($IP == "192.168.0.1")

note the double ==

It's much more convenient to do this with apache and the regular expression module.

Thanks!! That was my problem. It is working great on my site now.

The reason why didn't use apache is because I'm hosted on a hosting server with other websites.

The thing is most of the internets users ip addresses are dynamic so all a user has to do is disconnect and reconnect and they have a different ip? Im confused! would this script still dis allow the person?

No it would not. but the IP's I am blocking from are all static IP's. Also for a dynamic user, it could be useful to block a range by taking the first three sets of numbers from the IP address. This could help for that reason.

This script is great against webbots that put unwanted traffic on a site. I have multiple probes and web bots that hit my site constantly.

So how would you get this script to not accept anyone with the ip beginning with say, 192.20?? Would you use an array or something?
