html pulldown with fixed width

Hi,

Sorry for this not being a PHP question, but I just have to know!

Does anybody know how to fix the width of a pulldown? I remeber seeing it somewhere and it was done with a stylesheet option if I remember correctly.

The problem is that when a value of the pulldown gets wider, the whole pulldown gets wider and with that 'script' the pulldown stays as wide as you have set it...

Any ideas??

try around with

<select size="100" style="width:100px">

so you can specify your desired width for ie, opera and @!#$ netscape...

I can't understand why this must be done with a 'style' function and it is not in the standard HTML language...
