ZipCode

I'm in the early stages of redesigning our company website and want to use php.
Im a newbie but quick study.
What I want to do is have a submit form that will ask for their zipcode and then go to the zip code database I got from the us census and have it determine the closest branch to their location and send them directly to one of 7 branch websites...

Is this doable with mysql and php?
Seems to me this would be the solution to this.
If anyone has any information on sample code please let me know.
