no ttf support in php4.0.6

Hello all,
I have installed php4.0.6 on Redhat linux 7.2
I need ttf support
The GD i have right now is 1.33
when i execute my php scripts i get an error
saying that
"no ttf support in this php build"
what do i do?

i am using phplot package for graphs and i need ttf support
which GD should i install?
or what do i do to get ttf support

Help needed immediately please

You need to compile PHP with the following options:

--with-ttf
--enable-gd-native-ttf

but what if php is installed by defualt in redhat 7.2???????????
what is the step i need to take so that iam able to get ttf fonts

i have installed freetype 1.3.1 library and corresponding header files

do i have to edit php.ini file ?

I am using Redhat 7.1 and installed PHP with LDAP and PostgreSQL modules; all from the RPM's. In this case, it my case, the rpms were compiled with GD and TTF support. I can't imagine that they would change that in 7.2.

What do you see when you do a php_info() ?

hello richard,
iam in great trouble now
i had absolutely no problem in redhat 7.1
but i have installed redhat7.2
as per what is said in all places,i installed freetype1.3.1 and complied too
but i find no effect
i still get the error
and when i see phpinfo()
it shows that gd support,png support,jpeg support and wdmp support etc
where am i wrong?

In PHP_INFO() do you see:

--with-ttf
--enable-gd-native-ttf

i don't see that in phpinfo
well i compiled and built freetype1.3.1
but still nothing happened!

Well, if you don't see --with-ttf in php_inro() then it doesn't matter if you compiled freetype or not. The problem is that your PHP build does not have ttf support. Normally you would see your PHP build accessing the freetype libraries like so:

--with-ttf=/usr/local

Also, if you download the PHP tarball, there is a file in there called INTSTALL.REDHAT that gives information on re-compiling with your desired options.
