This is an unpaid college credit internship with Sothebys.com, the premier auction site for high-end art and antiques. Our ideal candidate is a smart, independent, precocious individual who's already been there and done that; already built a site in PHP, already understands the relationship between front/middle/backend technologies, already tired of hearing me list what they already know. MUST be good at HTML (ie. you've done more than build your sister's homepage), and experience with PHP/MySQL is highly preferred. If not, please be excited at the prospect of learning PHP/MySQL.
Opportunities
So what's in it for you? You get to see and be around great art - seriously, it's one thing to go to a museum and see a Picasso on the wall; it's quite another thing to see a Rothko in the hallways, Calder in the offices, and a previously undiscovered Old Master in our gallery. You'll also be able to talk in-depth with the most knowledgeable experts in the field. Second, this is a great growth opportunity for someone who's interested in web development. From day one you'll be working on significant projects, and at the end of the summer will have very REAL, very SOLID experience building web applications. You'll learn our application development methodology, you'll be able to add your own ideas and creations, and everything you work on will be used daily by hundreds of people worldwide. Finally, we have summer after-work events on our 10th-floor roofdeck with the rest of our intern program. If you work hard, you'll learn a lot and have a great recommendation for when you graduate.
