help finishing php journal

i am writing a php journal, with entries stored in a mysql database, and i would like someone to help me finish it. the two things i have left to figure out are how to make it display the current entry, and how to create next and previous links. i have posted these questions in several places (including here), but i am not getting anywhere. i would really appreciate it if someone has the time to just help me get this &*%&^& thing finished so that i can launch my site. i have no money, and can only offer credit or perhaps reciprocal help with another project.

please, somebody help me.

I am not sure what you mean with displaying the current entry. If you create a new entry, you give it some sort of ID value. You can query the database for that ID to get the enetered info back. Or you can use the POST from your inputform to post to a page which both puts the data in your database and displays the entered data.

thanks, i will look at those links.

what i mean by displaying the current entry is that when you first go to my site, i want the most recent entry to be the first thing you see. i know this must be possible; it's how the cgi script my journal is currently using works.

ah, i checked out the link you provided, and it's one i've already been through. it's something more suited to search results that journal entries, and i have no idea how to convert it to what i want.

this is why i am trying to get someone who would be able to work with me one on one. i've had numerous scripts offered, and i couldn't make any of them work.

How about including a date&time stamp in your database, then when you do a query on the database you order by timestamp.

Then you can continue, using the forward-backward button tutorial, I think.

select * from $table order by $timestamp, or something

i already have a date, although i was trying to do it by id. like i said, this script is not what i am looking for. i don't want next 12345 prev, just next and previous, and i don't understand it well enough to change it.

what i really need is someone who can sit down with me and help me go through my code and work it out.

Hello I have read your post and well I would be willling to try and lend a hand(in the past others have helped me and so I have been trying to return the favor). I would think that if you let others see your code it would be easier to help you debug and get to work the way that you want.
