Editing a form

I'm trying to give the user to go back and edit their input to a form they completed previously. The problem is how to make the browser selct the option they had last time in dropdownlists can anyone help?

I want it so make the initially selected value from $collectplace which has been taken from the database.

Html in the php script:

<select name="collect_place" class="textbox">
<option value="0" selected>Please choose ... </option>
<option value="Much Hadham">Much Hadham</option>
<option value="Little Hadham">Little Hadham</option>
<option value="Hunsdon">Hunsdon</option>
</select>

you need to print out the options dynamically, and check for the value you want to put a selected next to.

i.e.

if($uservalue = $select value) {
print "<option value="$value" selected>

} else {
print "<option value="$value">
}

know what I mean?
