Searching Mysql by 2 fields

hello all;

Trying to search on a field called Accounts and search through all of the ones it finds with that account number and sends an email only if the 2nd field "Status" is !=Closed. Any pointers from any would be appreciated as I have started but some of the Manuals arent all clear. I guess double reading is in order, lol.
