I need some help:

Why this works:
"/({\.\)[^}{]*?}/" \1= {*\, {\i\, {\b\ ecc...

But this not:
"/({\[*]\)[^}{]*?}/" \1 finds not {*\

If I use (what to my understanding should be correct)
"/({\*\)[^}{]*?}/"
I get a Warning: Compilation failed: missing ) at offset 19

I though I had understand a little about Regex, but now I understand nothing any more....

Nobody there who likes & undestand regular expressions?
Maybe next time I'll not write Regex in the subject...

RegExp compiler complains about:
"/({\*\)[^}{]*?}/"

Since you haven't explained what you are trying to accomplish, I have no idea about your above regular expressions, but the one with your compilation problem happens because you have a backslash in front of the )
The double backslash in front of the ) gets combined into one backslash when the string is parsed by PHP, and then the regular expression parser sees: ) and says, "Ah, this bloke wants to check whether there is a paren there"

Ok,....
Now I think I finally understand:

RegEx needs a double backslash, and PHP too, so what I need are 3 backslashes:

The working version of the regex for matching {*\ is this:
/{[\]*[\].*?}/"

The point was that I didn't know that for matchin the char \ I need this: \\
