You have an error in your SQL syntax

I store RSS headlines in a MySQL database, and this morning, on my front page I noticed the error "You have an error in your SQL syntax near 's Artport"..
Which is definatly related to slashdot's top story (at the time) "Tap" Palm Art at The Whitney's Artport

So my question is, how can I store data "safely" inside of a MySQL database. What did I misconfigure to end up having this sort of problem ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this ? I know there is an issue with storing "odd" data in MySQL, but I can not remember what options I need to add or what I need to do to make it work properly.
