using \' and quotes in forms

How do you enable the use of the /'/ and /"/ and others that conflict with SQL statements? I am building forms for users to update their web pages with and I want to be able to allow the users to use these characters ut, they screw up the SQL statements.

I think you can just use ' one of those instead...or \"blah\"
