open_basedir

i realize that there is another thread on here dealing with the same problem, but they never really came to a conclusion or a solution to the problem.

i continue to get:
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory

i didn't get this before. by the way, what it is trying to do is save a file onto the server. a couple of days ago it was working, now, no such luck, and i haven't changed anything in the script.

do i need my server admin to change something or can i manipulate the code to work around this?
