Hi, i am thinking of building a site using php and writing to a text file. Is there any good online tutorials that anyone knows of to do this and also include information on how you go about handling images in this suituation as well. I was going to use mysql and had that all sorted but of course the isps charge A LOT more for this (which i think is ridiculious), so i am trying a to find a cheaper option that will still allow me to build a form that lets the client update their page (image, description, price)......thanks for any help you can give me...jeff

Check out www.noxraq.com as an ISP. If you are being charged a large amount for MySQL they are ripping you off. With Noxraq you're looking at $72.95 for the first year $62.95 after that... including 3 mysql dbs, 10gigs transfer, 150mb space and a crapload more...

If you're looking for a larger company I'd recommend Bell.ca hosting is a little more expensive, $239 canadian, for similar options (less harddrive space) however they have a massive network and you'd almost never have to worry about downtime

PS Doing something like you're asking is possible however it takes up massive system resources and slows your site down... I have 1 line being written to a text file (date and an email) it ads a full 2 seconds per line!
