echoing with single quote problem

Iam echoing in single quotes an html that contains javascript.. but iam getting this parse error: expecting ','' or';'' in /home/www/register.php on line 46 from a line inside the echo

the line is: toolbar_str = toolbar ? 'yes' : 'no'\;

The question is.. why iam a getting a parse error at a line that should be echoed as is? Its like PHP is getting confused.

You escaped the semicolon at the end of the line. Remove the backslash before the semicolon.

if this is the exact line:
toolbar_str = toolbar ? 'yes' : 'no'\;

you need a dollar sign ($) in front of toolbar_str to make it avariable. If that doesn't fix it, you should show us the lines before the problem line.

I think youre not understanding.. that code is actually javascript.. the thing is that the code must be echoed asís because its insude a single quoted echo, and apparently its not.. it seems like PHP wants to execute it.

Why don´t you echo it with " quotes?

echo "toolbar_str = toolbar ? \'yes\' : \'no\'\;";

I cant do that.. itll great more errors because the text wont be recognized as is..

I got the solution for this problem.. when using echo with single quotes you must escape all single quotes inside the echo.
