Select option help

hello all,
how to make the selected record in a drop-down menu
display a text box automatically
i mean i have adrop down like this
<SELECT size=\"1\" name=\"component\">
<OPTION value=\"\">--Select Here--</OPTION>
<OPTION value=\"1.3.6\">1.3.6</OPTION>
<OPTION value=\"1.3.5\">1.3.5</OPTION>
<OPTION value=\"others\">others</OPTION>
</select>
if teh user selects any option other than others no problem
now when the user selects others ,immediately a text box should appear so that he enters the option there?
how am i to do this?

This should work, although its not tested. If it doesn\'t you should be able to work it out. If I\'ve missed something out got http://www.nationwide.co.uk , apply for a personal loan and this is on the second page after registration!

Sorry, I should have said the function showOther() is enclosed in <script language="Javascript">...</script>
