PHP script to Back Up MySQL??

I'm looking for some help. I need to backup my MySQL databases, and I would like to use PHP to do this. My databases are on a different machine, and I don't have a sql client on the backup machine except for the PHP one. I'm hoping for something similar to phpMyAdmin in how it uses "Drop Table" and "Full Inserts", etc.

Does anyone have one?

I want to run this in a cron job, so phpMyAdmin and other user interfaces won't work.

Forget PHP for these tasks, use a simple shell script and mysqldump, or even mysqlhotcopy.pl

read the mysqldump pages of the mysql manual for more information.

Ok, I've read the items you mentioned, and how does that help me back them up from a second server without a sql client?

P.S. If it is as simple as copying mysqldump, please tell me cuz it seems I'ld have to install mysql on this other server and I don't want to.

you could run mysqldump on your mysql server and use another cronjob to copy the backup file to wherever you want
