Dynamic refresh of data in table

Hello everybody,

I wonder if any of you can suggest me a method to display database items in a dynamic page that would only refresh the newer data and scroll down the old ones.

I already have set in place a working database (that receives updates in the order of 5 or 6 items a minute) and a PHP set of pages for data reading. As said, I am now looking for a simple and standard feature to avoid user's having to refresh the full list of items any given time (say every 5 or 10 minutes). Is there any DHTML tool (I guess that would do) that you know can help me with this?

I would be very glad if you would let me know your thoughts.

You can use <meta HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="[N]"> in your HTML page to force an automatic refresh every N seconds.

if your records are sequentially numbered or have a time stamp, you could try the following trick:

Create a session variable to hold the value of the last record number / timestamp obtained when the page was last run.
In your select query, include this session variable so that all the records being retrieved are newer than the session variable.

Just some ideas.

it is a good idea but that will not save the user from having the full page refreshed entirely (php, still gathers you static HTML pages) every CONTENT="[N]" seconds.
