PHP Interpreter for Windows ?

I cannot run Apache on my Win Me machine (sorry, it does not work), so does anyone know of a PHP interpreter that can be run locally without the need for Apache?

I'd like to do my development offline, and I don't have a UNIX box available. Nor do I want to install Linux on my Win Me machine (or "upgrade" to Win XP, which stands for "XPerimental"). I just want to be able to run PHP straight from a Windows Me environment.

I've got MySQL working locally, so why not PHP?

No Apache?
You can still run it as a CGI binary.
Haven't tested that on Windows, but should work fine.

why wont apache work? it works of my friends' box, and he runs winme (god bless his soul)

I have done as Meloni says to do in her book and changed the ServerName to "localhost" in the httpd.conf file, but I still get this error message:

"Cannot determine local host name. Use the ServerName directive to set manually." I have no idea what that means. And Apache's web site is useless for Win Me.

And to even get this far, I have to open a DOS window and then run apache.exe. It won't run from my start menu, it just flashes on screen and shuts down.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean a CGI script? I cannot find this script on my web host's server.

Hopefully, it will run on Win Me, and also run PHP and all the rest. I would love to do my development off-line instead of tying up my modem all day!
