Text Area & missing returns

Hi all,

Could someone help me out with a problem.

When i send the contents of a text area in my form to a mysql database and then display the reults all the line breaks are lost and the text is displayed as one big paragraph.

Ive seen mention of /r/n code but dont understand how to implement that either.

Does anyone have an easy way to fix this ?

\r means carriage return
\n means new line

u can print it by using

print ereg_replace("\r", "<br>", $textarea);

I've used str_replace() to replace the line breaks in input from a textarea with <br> tags. This works well if the data is going to be displayed in an html page.

str_replace("\n", "<br>", $input);

Do this before you store in the mysql db

Hi, Thnks for the replies.

Could you give me an example of where I need to add this to the form code.

I take it that this code needs to be used as the code is sent to the database and not when printing the results back to my php page.
