Anyone out there know how to specify a font and type size when writing to a .dat from within a php script ie:
fwrite($FH,??????????????????)
the .dat file needs to open up as a word document

You can't do that directly in PHP, unless you know the internal format of Word documents. Try doing research in the COM area...coz PHP allows you to use COM objects, which means you can talk to Word and ask it to write a certain string with a certain format (maybe).

That's exactly what you need to do. It's tacky but it beats learning the ugly innards of a Microsoft file format. Alternately consider the PDF generating functions...
