Starting another PHP-Script

Hi!

I have a question: I made a little NewsletterScript for a friend. Right now it works fine, but he has to call the PHP-Side and the has to wait until it has finished to send all the emails.

Is there a way, to start a script which sends the mails, but cannot be killed by closing the browserwindow??

Ok, this would make the thing with closing the browserwindow... but I search for a solutions like this:

system("php -f mailer.php >>/dev/null &");

But this doesnt work... I though it starts the script mailer.php in the backgroud... but it doesnt start it at all...
