Authenticating against Win NT SAM DB

I work on my High School's web site. Originaly we had been doing some development in ASP, but recently have seen the light of PHP and decided to switch over. We would like to switch our current web app to PHP but in order to do it we need to be able to authenticate against the server's NT SAM Database, to restrict useage to staff and students. We were able to do this in ASP I'm just curious if you can do the same in PHP.

I'm not sure how you do it now in ASP, but if you are using COM objects (most likely), you can try switching over to using the same COM objects in PHP:
