Select boxes and values when reloaded

Hi,

I am sure there is a simple to answer to my problem, I just can not find it!

I have a page with several select boxes that are used to select values from a database, when the page is reloaded the relevent values are displayed correctly.

However, the select box always returns to display the first value in the list rather than the one selected.

Whilst the numerical values in my form are correct the information in the select box is misleading.

Please could someone point out the "errors of my ways"

Hard to do without seeing your code, but I am guessing that you are not using the SELECTED keyword when you re-display the page. It does exactly what it says; you use it on the <OPTION > tag to specify that an option should be selected by default, ie:

<OPTION VALUE='2' SELECTED>Option 2</ OPTION>

will ensure that option two is selected by default when the form is displayed.

I should have explained in a liitle more detail. I have a select box in a form that produces a financial proposal. The select box has 4 options:

1 year warranty
2 year warranty
3 year warranty
4 year warranty

The user selects the option they require, along with selections from other boxes and finally clicks a "Calculate" button, which relaods the form with all of the figures displayed and calculations performed.

However if the user selected, for example 2 years warranty, when the form is reloaded the select box displays the value that has the "Selected" tag and not, as in this example, 2 years warranty.

I would be very grateful if anyone has a solution.
