Tracking user country

Hi
I am working on a web site tracking script where i need to generate the stats country wise. I need help on how to find out the country from where the hit is comming from. How can i do it.

You know, I'm not 100 percent sure, but perhaps you could check with the chaps that put xtraceroute for Linux. It gives a graphical representation of where a trace is going using a globe on your desktop.

Now that I think of it, you would be better to go straight to traceroute.org. Perhaps there's something there that could help you.

One way or the other, it can be done.

gethostbyaddr($REMOTE_ADDR) will get you a hostname if available.

And when available, most of the time, it is quite useful to determine the country. That's what i use.
