Setting a php cookie from javascript

I'm testing a script, and i need to set a cookie with php, then overwrite it with a javascript, then be read back again through php. Is this possible?
Otherwise, is it possible to use the post command to set the cookie this way?
any ideas? Thanks.

Use a hidden field on the form to pass the value(s) back and forth.

Note that the users can look at your javascript if they want, so be careful you don't pass data you don't want them to see.

From PHP, set-cookie, then in JavaScript, document.cookie, then in PHP, read the cookie header back after a simple redirect. This is absolutely possible, we use a mix of JavaScript / PERL (sorry, hope the word PERL does not peeve anyone here...🙂 cookies on our site. Good for knowing if JavaScript is supported on the client platform, or if the client has Flash installed, among other things.
