Disabling buttons

Hello all,
how can i disable buttons based on the what the wishes to do say for ex add,delete,update etc
i have a html form displaying some results from database
and i have buttons for new entries,save,delete and view
if a user clicks the add button i want the delete and view button to be not shown
how can i do this?
any idea please

you can add "readonly" in the tag

hello,
i tried using the script but it does not work as it gives parse errors etc
i tried this way,

what is the problem?????????

Javascript is not a solution, and neither is the 'disabled' tag.

Javascript can be switched off and 'disabled' is not always supported.

The simplest and best solution is to just not print those buttons at all.

People cannot use what's not there.
