session_start() problems

I am wondering whether anyone can help me out. i am trying to use the session_start() to use the session. However when i use it it comes up with the following error.

Warning: open(c:\windpws\tmp\sess_4d2941c5cc09af3964ef08aaf2cd90b6, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in D:\My Documents\Evolution Web Solutions\Phoenix Web Site\Dreamweaver Design\sams_scripts\index.php on line 4

now i know that this is something to do the session.save_path located in the php.ini file. however when i am trying to change it, it doesn't seem to change anything no matter where i point the directory to

My question is 1) where is this pointing towhere the default directory in the php.ini file when it says /tmp

2)how do i change the directory (in terms of the syntax, whether it need's qutoation marks or what) and what should i change that directory to

I am using Windows XP Professional and IIS 5.0 to look at the files in internet explorer

further from this, i am now getting a message saying

what does this mean and can i change the permissions somewhere so i have access

You pretty much answered your first question: Your web server doesn't have permission to do stuff in that directory.

As for your second, consult your Windows documentation on the subject, and give the user IIS identifies itself as ('nobody' I seem to recall) permission to read/write/etc. the contents of that directory.
