Flat files security???

Hi there!
Sometimes I need to use a .txt file to storage any kind of data inside , But I feel not secury doing that...If I can't use DB, how can I keep those files (usually with a 777 permission) in safety??

With a 777 permission you don't.
777 means ANYONE can read/write and execute that file.

I never use 777 EVER.
It's bad, just plain f@#@#()@ng bad!

you could get better security if you used 755 or lower, play around with it some.
but even then, they wont be secure unless you actually encrypt the files contents.

Actually I was wrong...I usually use the 666 permission for .txt files...Once I heard of put the file outside of the website root, but I don't know what it means....
