adding image file extension...

Hello, i have made a little database php/mysql for a small retail shop that wanted to put its stock on the internet, at present it is not live. It allows them to upload images (among other things) but when you are required to enter a new image name i am adding the .jpg to the end of it, otherwise it is just a file with no extension (although it still displays on the page).

How do i add the .jpg to the end of the users "new image name" ???

call the file from the database.
add:

$file .= ".jpg";

then output $file as necessary.
