how to merger images

hi
how I can merger images together in php, and send to brwoser one image ?
I want to make php counter , that get display the image of counter
e.g.
the counter is : 54521
the php display one image that countan image 5.gif and 4.gif and 5.gif and 2.gif and 1.gif
Like the counter on cpanel (cgi)

1) It may be simpler to just store and send the digits separately and render them in a wee table.

first solution is that what i'm doing , but I want to merger them to on image to display the counter by using <img border="0" src="cunter.php"> .

Like I said, see the manual. In particular, the functions imagecreate() imagecreatefrom*() and imagecopy().
