I'm a longtime web/flash/FileMaker Pro developer but am a newbie when
it comes to PHP (I'm on pg 47 of PHP and MySQL). I would like to build
a small app (apprently fairly easy I am told).

I would like to build a 4 frame site top,under that 3 frames left,
middle and right.

the top frame has 3 buttons in it. When one of the buttons is clicked
the left frame html uses php to go through a directory find all the
folders/subdirectories in it, then generate a dynamic menu consisting
of a title,decription and an image (from data within the directory).
When this link (image or title) is clicked a bigger picture and more
copy appear in the right hand frame.

I am in desperate need of a php wiz to throw some light on this and
if possible some code. ;-).

I can in turn help with some flash development.

Go to the documentation area at http://php.net/ and look at the FileSystem functions. You'll need opendir() to open directories, readdir() to read each entry (i.e. file) of the directory, and from there you create the menu. I'm not sure where you'll get the title and description of the image though.
