Hi,

I was wondering if there's a better way to do this: accepting more than one value from a checkbox.

I can do this: -

and then I can use some sort of string manipulation to find the space and seperate $col1 and $col2 prior to their insertion into a d/b.

Is there another way though?

I don't quite understand the point of this?

A checkbox is a single-value input. It's either on or off. That's it. If the user selects a checkbox, you notice this after submission, and do what you have to.

I can't think of a single 'real life' scenario where this would be useful. Hidden fields exist for a good reason, and is most likely the best solution to your problem.

Please let us (me?) know what you are trying to achieve, and I'll try to understand 🙂

use can use pipe delimited values..
like
$col1|$col2|$col3 etc

then in your program that handles the form submission

use $values = explode("|",$variableName);

now your values will be in the array $values

with $values[0]=$col1
$values[1]=$col2
$values[2]=$col3 etc

Hmmm, actually you're probably right - there's no good reason to do it this way.

I can (I think) send two hidden fields if the checkbox is checked.

That's all I'm trying to do: get two of the values from a big displayed table that is three columns wide. But I want to select multiple values across different rows and be able to insert them into a d/b afterwards.

Thanks, although I've realised I could do this with hidden fields this is still a cool way of doing it of which I'll take a note for future reference.
