trim()->array_unique()->sort()

I have problem with the following functions. Some of the duplicates in the array I send in to the deleteDup() dissapears some stays, the sorting seems to appear in two groups, a-y0-1a-y.

Can anyone see what is wrong?

What are you trying to do? Can you give an example of an array that produces a bad result?

I collect values from a column in a table containing titles. Some people have more than one title marked with comma or slash.
The resultset is written in to a string with comma between each value. then all the slashes is converted to commas and explode is used to make an array containing all the values.

This is when I call for the function deleteDup().

It seems it is the trim() function that not manages to take away all the whitespaces.

The string I have made from the database is this:

Well, there you go. trim() is working, but you're never using its result; you're trimming a copy of the array element, not the array element itself.

See if adding this makes a difference:
----------------v
function trimMe(&$string)

And change the function body to

$string=trim($string);

trim returns a trimmed string, it doesn't modify its argument.
