Hello all.
I'm working on an interactive online jukebox with php (ala mp3.com but only one jukebox stream coming out).
When users upload their mp3's I run the follow command in the background to reencode their mp3s to my standard --
$lame_command = "usr/local/bin/lame " .
"-b 64" . / the desired bitrate /
$filenametemp . " " . $filename;
This works fine, it forks off a processs HOWEVER IT HOGS ALL MY RESOURCES! It takes a priority of 19 (because it's run as user APACHE?) and I can't even slip a http request until it finishes.
What is the best way to knock some points off this badboys priority?
thanks,
bART
