expiry date

Hi there,
If i have a date that i manually put into a database, how can i put an expiry date on that day....for example i have "periods" from which to choose: 1,2,3,7,14,30,90,180,365 (these all correspond to days)
If i were to insert 7 into the database i want that value to expire in seven days. How can this be done.

What about running a query to find all dates greater than say 7 days old. you can then delete these can't you?
