HTML € sign help

I know its not really PHP but its very important to a php page so any help would be great

Im tryin to put a € sign in a drop down menu but no matter what form i try it comes up a a little box when i preview it in a browser. Has any one tried this before ? Is it possible?

have you tried using & euro ; instead? (without the space of course)

Yep ive tried
- & euro;
- & #8364;
- & #x20AC;
- & #128;
but none work they all appear as the euro sign when printed normally its just a prob when i try and put them in a drop down menu !
any ideas coz im stumped?

Two things need to hold before you'll get your Euro:

1) The browser has to know what to do with the "€"
2) The character actually has to be in the font used.

On my machine at least, IE5.00 (SR2) fails to display the euro, while Mozilla0.9.9 succeeds. Another version of IE5 on another machine of my acquaintance does display the Euro symbol.

So in the end it depends on what your visitors are using. Either spell the word out or use € and hope people'll catch up eventually.

Yep, a quick visit to Microsoft's download site and now my IE5 is displaying € as well. Not perfectly, as not every font being used on this page has the euro character (the Arial and Verdana do, the Courier doesn't (though courier new does), the MS Sans-serif of the text fields doesn't, and nor does the font I'm using in this textfield.
