connect to db on separate server

I have an addles-webhost wich does not support MySQL, but I also found a host wich does support it unfortunately with advertisment, so i'd like to host my databaste there and keep my scripts on my addless-server, but how do i connect and perform queries then? a simple connect() won't do the trick....

so, to make it some more clear: i have my scripts located on server A and my MySQL-Database on server B . How do I make them work together?

In your scripts on server A, specify the hostname, username and password for MySQL on server B.

MySQL on server B will have to have permissions for server A to connect to it obviously.

yes, but it will try to connect locally.

if my script (on A) calls for a
connect("localhost","name","pw") it will try to locate it on A, how do i rederect it to B? i don't suppose
connect("PathToB/localhost","name","pw") will work does it?)

Use the "B" server's hostname.

mysql_connect("hostname.myhost.com","name","pw")

no, i've tried, i get the 'Unknown MySQL Server Host' warning followed by a 'connection failed' 🙁

adding or leaving http:// to the hostname doesn't make a difference either. (for good understanding: A does support PHP 🙂

any other ids?
