drop lists in form

Hello,

I'm trying to build a form containing 2 drop lists populated by a query on the db (sql2k).

My problem is that I would like the second drop list to be filtered depending on the choice of the first drop list, and I have no idea of how I could do this.

either use Javascript to repopulate the 2nd select with an 'onChange' via prewriten javascript arrays or use javascript to redirect the browser on an 'onChange' so PHP can write out the 2nd select form input.

I am laying pretty good odds that you would have to automatically reload the page after choosing the value of the first dropdown, the dropdown sleection is made client side, PHP queries are done server-side, so you would have to put an "onChange" in the form field and have it reload and querying on the value of the first selection.

Or that is what I am guessing anyway, maybe someone else has a better idea...

If I understand well, in both cases, I will have to reload the page... ;o(

I was hoping in was possible to run the query when the user clicks to open the drop list...

NO, with javascript, you can repopulate the selectbox dynamically without reloading.
You will have to have all your arrays written out for javascript though,
which shouldn't be that big a deal
just some more text to print that's all.
