Wierd issue with MSSQl and quotes

Hello,

been banging my head against this one for a while...

(MSSQL 7, PHP4.11, WinNT4)

I have form input with both single quotes and double quotes in it (management wants to copy and paste into a textarea). Magic quotes are on, but the insert query fails anyway. If I use single quotes around the variables while building the query, the query dies on the escaped single quote:

"update TABLE set BODY='Pasta\'s good'"

but escaped double quotes are OK:

"update TABLE set BODY='my \"book\"'"

I can get one type of quote to pass at a time, but not both.

Anyone have an idea?

use addslashes()

Although the slashes were already in there, I did try addslashes(). All that did was escape the escape and re-escape the quote.
